Weekly Round Up

001. On Tuesday we went out for a meal for my housemate Cadie's birthday. We went to Chiquitos which I've never been to before, nor have I ever eaten Mexican food. Whilst the food was okay, I don't see myself rushing back in the future as there was only about two things I could eat off of the menu, where normally I like to be stuck with choices. But it was nice to try somewhere new.

002. On Wednesday afternoon I nipped home for the night to attend the Manchester Spring Fashion Show with one of my closest friends Megan. My dad waited in Manchester to get the second train home with me which was lovely to catch up with him and have some general 'daddy-daughter time' ha! He let slip that one of my good friends had heard back from a job application and got it which I was very happy about as it's always a great feeling when people who deserve good things, get them! My parents thought I was staying for the entire weekend so were a bit gutted when it was literally a 'I'm gonna crash here then go' situation. My mum had even brought me ingredients to bake cakes which made me feel even more guilty - sorry mum!

003. The show itself was a lot of fun. As I said, I took Megan with me who is a fashion student in Leeds so not only was it right up her street - it was great to spend some time with a friend who I feel 100% myself around and who can relate to things I'm going through. There were several designers and collections, I'm not going to go on too much about it as I'll be posting a full post tomorrow - so check back for that! But I'll also take this opportunity to thank Victoria Rosso for inviting me to come, it was an honour to attend and it was obvious that a lot of hard work had been put in. It was also fab to have something fashion-related happening in Manchester as as a Northerner, I usually have to travel to London all the time, which I easily do but when it's over two hours to London and 40 minutes to Manchester, it was nice not to have to rush back for an early train. Although saying that, I do enjoy travelling to London as the actual train is lovely and gives me a chance to relax and catch up with my favourite magazines!

004. I caught up with Rebecca on Friday over a hot chocolate at Costa. Neither of us are coffee drinkers so this seemed like a fair alternative. We spent hours talking, ranting and having a laugh which resulted in me being able to relate and understand a lot of what she's going through with uni (both in our final years) and general life! I met Rebecca through blogging - the Manchester Bloggers Meet Up to be precise which is one of the main reasons I'm grateful to blogging as I've met some (hopefully) life long friends.

005. Yesterday, I went to London for the Spring TOWIB. This year's event was held at a lovely hotel in central London where we given plenty of scones, tea, biscuits and cakes. It was a day packed of talks and advice but like the Manchester Spring Fashion Show - I'm not going to spill too much now as a post will be up mid-week about the event in detail. I've noticed that this TOWIB has stirred up a lot of debate over Twitter which I was a little taken aback by but I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Saying that though, I think Hayley did a wonderful job. I know that I couldn't organise  something of that scale and I applaud her determination, motivation and hard work and time, without which, I would have never met some of my blogger friends in the first place!

  1. I cannot wait to read about the Manchester spring fashion show! It was nice to see you at TOWIB, and although I agree with the fact that Hayley did a brilliant job, I also think it was quite sad to see all these new bloggers so keen to monetize their blogs so early on...

    1. Yes, I agree with that. I've been running my blog for over half a year and I'm still not comfortable with the idea of making money just yet as my blog is too small. I do it for fun, not to cash in! xx

  2. The design for that flyer is so lovely! "...has stirred up a lot of debate over Twitter..." Now I'm curious to see your detailed post about this, too!

    1. Yes, it's been busy, but in a good way - I hate it when time drags so I like to fill my week :)
