TV/Film Fashion Icons: Pretty Woman - Vivienne

Pretty Woman will always be one of my favourite films. I grew up watching it with my mum and can easily quote chunks of it - hell, I even wish I was Vivienne if I got to date Edward Lewis...well, if you cut out the hooker part... While Vivienne's pre-Beverly Wiltshire fashion was less than favourable, you can't deny the iconic outfits that made this film what it is.

The LBD that changed everything
Your little black dress is the fail-safe option for a night out. Vivienne's lace/crochet cocktail dress transformed her so much that Edward had to do a double take. Matching necklace, cascading curls, gloves and a mid-hemline, kept the look classy, not trashy.

Brown, cream and a polkadot dream
Polkadots are always popular, no matter the decade. Vivienne looks ladylike chic in this belted shift with matching hat, bag and gloves. A classy up-do and timeless pearl earrings complete the ensemble.

Red and regal at the Opera
If there's an iconic Pretty Woman dress - this is it. It may have something to do with the striking colour, the cut of the dress or the quarter of a million dollar necklace Edward ("Can I call you Eddy?") is about to give her. Matching red lipstick, whiter than white evening gloves and a beautiful up-do, make this a look to envy.

Match your other half
Who says men can have all the boardroom fashion fun? Vivienne looks as office chic as Edward in this white pin stripe suit. Chiffon sleeves stop it being boardroom boring, and instead something to boast about.

Classic in coral
Tailored to a tee, this coral suit is colourful and classy. The belted waist gives a feminine figure, whilst the crisp, white blouse, sunglasses and pearl earrings keep it casually cool.

Conclude in casual
Still holding onto the tailored blazer, the final scene of the film sees not only one of the best scenes in the film ("She rescues him right back!"), but sees Vivienne in one of her most casual outfits since her 'makeover.' Blue jeans, a crisp, simple white t-shirt, belt and black blazer scream effortless ease. Voluminous hair and a dazzling white smile help any outfit, naturally...
