Event: River Island & ELLE Magazine Style Sessions

Last night I attended the Manchester evening of the River Island and ELLE Magazine's Style Sessions. Firstly, I was hugely pleased that the event was hosted at the Arndale store instead of the usual Trafford Centre location that many events take place at as the city centre store is much easier to get to, especially for people like me that don't drive! And secondly, what could be better than a fantastic magazine teaming up with one of the UK's best high-street brands for a night of cocktails, manicures, shopping and style advice?!

The Manchester stop on their tour was the final leg, having travelled all over the UK from London to Cardiff and Liverpool. ELLE's lovely Market Editor Bonnie Rakhit hosted the night, giving us the low-down on this season's hottest trends and how to adapt them to your tastes and styles. From downtown to a trend closer to my heart - the blogger trend, there were textures and prints a plenty, giving everyone an option this season.
Downtown: Taking influences from Soho, New York and the early 70s and 80s - to work downtown this season, think boyish and androgynous. Pick your print from Herringbone, leopard print or tartan and team with flat boots for casual cool.

Off-duty ModelInspired by model's after show cosy clothes, off-duty model offers fabrics like soft cotton jerseys and slouchy materials. And to top it off the ultimate accessory is a flat shoe - heel haters rejoice! Think pretty parkas, slouchy shirts and a bold boot.

The Blogger: This look incorporates a mashed up look of prints, textures and fabrics. Mix smart essentials like a blazer with a casual shirt and team classic heels with a cute ankle sock, which are big this season. Detailing such as collar tips and heel prints tie the look together.

The Futuristic Goth: Taking inspiration from the Medieval era, lots of leather and velvet are juxtaposed against softer lace, sheer and chiffon materials.

I also made a quick video montage of the looks on the night. Apologies for the poor quality, I didn't have my camera on me on the night so my phone had to do!
