Review: Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lychee

I've read lots of raving reviews of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine nail paints so when Boots ran a 3 for 2, I stocked up. I chose the shade 'Lychee' as I'm not one for bright colours on my nails as I like to not have to change them very often. I've spoke before about how I'm not a massive fan of painting my nails and how often you have to touch them up, so I had high hopes of this particular formula after all I'd read.

First things first, the shade itself is lovely. It's a lovely nude, neutral shade that will go with everything. The design and packaging is also nice and simplistic. It's easily build-able should you want a thick consistency.

However, after application is where my positive writings end. I found that the formula takes quite a long time to dry - which for someone like me who doesn't have much patience and usually resorts to painting my nails at 11pm at night before bed - this isn't ideal. This wouldn't be so bad, however the finish or durability didn't impress me either.
I have to say that I didn't use top coat, so me moaning about the finish may not be entirely valid, however I think that if a product claims to be something, it should live up to it without needing the added bonus of another product (in this case a top coat). The finish is meant to be high shine, like a gel application, however I didn't see this at all when I used it. My nails looked quite dull and because I found it to chip pretty quickly too, they looked less then impressive.

I have to stress that I've read countless positive reviews raving about this product so I'm genuinely quite gutted that it hasn't had the same effect on me, however I will persevere with it as I have two or three bottles to get through, and who knows, it might get better and if that's the case, I'll come back and edit this review!
