Denim Jacket

Jacket: boohoo, Dress: H&M
I don't always like girly girl stuff. Offer me a pink dress and I'll kindly decline, rock a babypink lip? No thanks. I've never really owned florals when it comes to fashion or been comfortable in bows and delicate clothing. However for this dress I'll make an exception. I don't know what it is about it - maybe it's the shape, maybe I feel like Carrie Bradshaw in the opening of SATC or maybe it reminds me of being a ballerina - but something about it makes me feel really feminine and girly - I'd even say it tempts me to want to do a twirl (cringe).

But hey, I guess there's nothing wrong with that. Fashion is meant to be fun. If you don't feel happy in your clothes it will show, so I always try to wear clothes that improve my mood. There's certain colours, shapes and styles that I avoid as I know they won't benefit me, but saying that - every once in a while it's worth going against your 'fashion rules' and trying something you think won't look good - on. You'll be surprised at how much your opinion can change on a piece of clothing once it's on.
Case in point this denim jacket. I'm not a big denim fan. Unlike most women who love their jeans - I don't. And aside from myself and Blair Waldorf - I struggle to recall anyone else who is like us. I picked up this jacket in a sample sale - didn't think I'd wear it much, but boy was I wrong. It's now a regular go-to in my wardrobe and I guess I see it as my compromise to denim jeans. It's funny how fashion is though as I literally lived in my New Look 915 denim jackets all through my childhood and teen years. Yet by the end of school and beginning of college and university, I wouldn't go near one as I guess at the time they weren't 'cool' - and obviously I cared more about that back then then I realize. Yet now, here we are again and I love my denim jacket!

Do you have any pieces that have gone back and forth on your love/hate list?
