Most fashion related things happen in London - it's a fact. So when it was announced that VFNO 2013 would be held in Manchester, I was a little surprised, and of course happy. Living up North, going to events can be tough so having the best night of fashion transported a mere 40 minutes from where I live was great.

Manchester's stores came alive, celebrities and magazine editors flocked to the city and the champagne was flowing. Matthew Williamson came to Flannels, Nicky Clarke came to, well, Nicky Clarke, VV Brown DJ-d at River Island, Jameela Jamil at Selfridges, Pixie Geldof at H&M and the crowds went wild at catching a glance at Jamie Lang.

I started my night at Selfidges where the place was packed with eager fashionistas. Popcorn and candy floss were the snacks on offer as well as cocktails, chanel manicures, a Selfridges bag photoshoot and bingo with none other than Henry Holland.
Harvey Nichols was next where giant boardgames were brought to life including Snakes and Ladders and a more non-conventional - pin the tail on Karl Lagerfeld. Pick 'n' mix rounded up the young and fun theme of the night and an array of designers and celebrities joined the crowd in their hut stations - the most shouted after being Jamie Lang from Made In Cheslea.

boohoo brought pink to the night by having the boohoo bus stationed near Exchange Square offering makeovers, a DJ and an Instagram polaroid activity. Finally we stopped by River Island to have fun at their flipbook booth. I experienced my first last year at Mulberry's FNO event - you get 10 seconds to move and then all of those dozens of images are made into a cute flipbook - a really cool idea and a step up from the traditional photobooth.

All in all it was a good night for Manchester and it was fantastic to see the city so alive and have something to shout about. Sadly I didn't see David Beckham who was rumoured to be making an appearance, but several glasses of champagne, fashion and fun did overcome that. Next time Becks.

  2. Your photos look amazing! I wish I'd got some popcorn but the queues for everything in Selfridges were ridiculous by the time I got there x
