Last week I headed down to the Renaissance Hotel in Manchester for a blogger event with a difference - a Murder Mystery evening. I'd never been to one previously but had always been intrigued about them so was pretty excited when the invite dropped into my inbox. Hosted by BGO and The Murder Mystery team the night kicked off with welcome drinks and meeting/catching up with fellow bloggers before being seated to start the evening.
Now I've grown up being forced to watch pretty much every detective/murder mystery programme under the sun - one of my all time favourites (please note the sarcasm here), Midsomer Murders - seriously guys just LEAVE Midsomer and your problems will be solved. So I was quietly confident I'd learnt enough detective skills to figure 'who dunnit.'
Split into table teams the aim was pretty straightforward - guess who the murderer was. Live actors played out the scene before we all set to work - asking questions, doing pocket searches and sifting through the evidence. I don't want to go into too much detail as it would spoil it for anyone who goes to this event in the future but I am happy to report my team did crack the case and found out who the murderer was *punches the air.* The evening wrapped up with a dinner and drinks - and for my team - more drinks in the form of our winning bottle of champers.
As I said before it definitely was an event with a difference and it was great how interactive and involved it was in terms of meeting new people. And although they say it's the taking part that counts and not the winning, winning was pretty damn good!
