Ever since I can remember I've loved photography. I've always been that person snapping hundreds of photos and having this blog has only heightened that passion. Up until a few weeks ago, everything I know was self-taught. So when I got an invite to a photography workshop from the lovely folk at Joe Blogs - my RSVP 'yes' couldn't be typed quick enough.
In association with Currys and The Manchester Photographic School - the Lights Camera Currys workshop treated us to an afternoon of camera skills, tips and tricks before setting off on assignment. I have to admit - I am guilty of keeping my SLR on auto 80% of the time, not just out of laziness but more lack of knowledge and confidence to turn that dial.
Christian from the Manchester Photographic School took us through the common questions he gets asked and the basics of how to achieve different effects with your camera. From aperture to shutter speed it was a great crash course in getting the most out of our photos. Following that we were put into groups with a subject to photograph at the Manchester Food and Drink festival. Whilst I just work in Manchester, it was such a great atmosphere on the day with the bustling crowds and tempting smells coming from the array of food stalls on offer.
Unfortunately my photos didn't do my earlier learning any justice but I took a lot from the day and plan to start being braver with my camera and switching that dial from auto. Thanks to Joe Blogs, Currys and The Manchester Photographic School for an event with a difference!
