So back to the actual post - I’ve pulled together my answers for each of the questions in the tag. I have to say I’ve really enjoyed compiling this list as it’s also given me a narrowed down playlist of some of my favourite songs. I did struggle narrowing it down and I did probably spend more time deliberating my answers than what I should have done but hey ho - either do with it passion or not at all!
If you’ve done the tag too - leave a link to your blog - I’m always fascinated to read other people’s soundtracks and seeing their taste in music. Mine’s a little crazy but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Song you listen to when you're happy?
Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield
Fans of The Hills will instantly recognise this as the opening credits song. Whilst I'm glad the show publicised the song, it wasn't through watching The Hills that made me a fan. It's a few years old but it's one of those timeless, feel-good songs. The lyrics are really upbeat and positive and it always makes me feel motivated. And yes, it does also make me happy as it reminds me of The Hills, and watching episode after episode with my girls - and yes, we even figured out who we all are in cast - I got to be Whitney as she was independent, worked in fashion and wanted to move to New York - and yet again I digress...
Song you listen to when you're sad?
You Found Me/How To Save A Life - The Fray
I'm not going to go into too much detail on this one. I'm happy to get deep when it comes to happy memories but I'm going to draw a line on sad times. The lyrics are pretty much the reason behind this choice. Plus I love The Fray, which is why I've technically cheated on this one and put two songs by them.
What song will you have at your wedding?
Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
I don't think much description is needed here as we all know Ed Sheeran is a musical god. That voice, those lyrics - just dreamy. So yep, Ed at my hypothetical wedding. He'd also be there singing it - well if we're playing fantasy situations...
What song do you dance around the house to?
How Will I Know - Whitney Houston
An oldie but a goodie, I love this Whitney song. Sam Smith has done a slow cover of this which is absolutely stunning (seriously YouTube it) - I love both versions - Sam's is more of a slow dance song, whereas Whit's is definitely more of a 'dance around your lounge' belter. I'm not going to admit that I do this but I'm not going to deny it either.
Song you play on your headphones when out and about?
Till The Dawn - Drew Sidora
This is a bit of a random one as my day-to-day roaming around town tracks change literally daily. I never listen to anything sad or too slow as I'm a fast walker so I like my music to match. At the minute it's a lot of dance songs - like Drew Sidora's 'Till The Dawn' which probably isn't that well known - it features on the soundtrack for the Step Up film (the dance off scene in the club) - it's also on YouTube if you fancy a look. I've mentioned in my 2015 Resolutions post that I want to get back into my dancing - and this song inspires me to do so.
Song you listen to when you're angry?
Gives You Hell - The All American Rejects
I don't like ever really being angry or bitter but for those brief 10 minute sessions a week, I'd probably go for 'Gives You Hell' or some Greenday or Linkin Park. Maybe even Eminem and Evanescence on a bad day.
Song that makes you lose your shit at a party?
Uptown Funk - Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson
Bruno yet again has pulled it out of the bag with this song. I have a lot of time for Bruno Mars - he along with Ed and Sam Smith are three voices that are like velvet to me. But back to the song, it's got a cracking beat, good lyrics and everyone in my office gets excited by it so that must be good!
The last song you listened to?
As the year's recently come to a close I've been listening to a lot of mashups - these two are ones I have on repeat (here and here).
Your karaoke song?
No Scrubs - TLC
Really struggled narrowing this down from my list but since I know all of the words and I did sing this this time last year at karaoke, I thought this would be the most appropriate answer. Not a ground breaking or heartfelt song but they all can't be, can they!
What song do you work out/exercise to?
Club Can't Handle Me - Flo Rida
The more upbeat the song the better - so anything by Flo Rida is a winner in my eyes.
Song with the most memories attached?
Senorita - Justin Timberlake
This was the hardest one out of them all. I can't really pinpoint one song that has a lot of memories attributed to it. 'Happy's' been a big song of the year, 'Marry You' was special as we sang it an awful lot right before and during my best friend's wedding, as was her first dance song... This JT is another oldie but goodie - it gets everyone singing it and having thousands of people sing it at V Festival last year was pretty special.
Song that makes you cry?
Who Knew - Pink
Another sad explanation I'm avoiding - but anyone who knows the song and its lyrics will be able to make your own conclusions from it.
Song you hate the most?
Anaconda - Nicki Minaj
To be honest I really struggled with this one as I don’t recall many songs I hate - as I just avoid listening to them if I don’t like it. But from 2014 - I never really liked Nicki Minaj’s 'Anaconda.' The beat reminds me of 'Baby Got Back' - probably intentional but I find it more annoying as I keep wanting to chip in about how I like big butts and I just can’t lie. The lyrics are quite pointless and blah, yeah I just don’t like it.
Your favourite song of all time?
Smile - Uncle Kracker
Definitely the easiest choice I've made throughout the whole of this exercise. I LOVE this song. Great beat and even greater lyrics. It's such a happy and uplifting song and every time I hear it I not only instantly smile but I re-live all of the great memories I have in my head. I try to avoid doing this in public as surely people think it's weird if you're just sat there smiling to yourself. Note to self - stop doing this in 2015...
