How To Not Work A Day In Your Life

Marc Anthony once said "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." For most, work will dominate your life. Maybe not your mindset but definitely your time. And whilst I've not been in the working world for long, I know from the quality I've had that it's so important to enjoy what you do, otherwise what's the point?

You only get one life so don't settle with a job that's so-so if it doesn't drive you to get up and out of bed every morning. It's not school, you don't have to be there (well, for the money part - yes) but no-one is forcing you to be there (unless you've got a contract obviously).

In previous jobs I would clock watch and dread going to work. Everyone who went to school will remember that dreaded Sunday feeling when you realise where you have to be tomorrow. Do you have that with work? Then that's a red flag that you need to either improve the situation or move on.
I genuinely love going to work. Some people look at me in horror and recoil when I come out with what seems to be a controversial statement. I go to work everyday with my best friends and get to do what I love for a living. I've done and been involved with some amazing projects and get creative freedom that I sometimes have to pinch myself. It's not all a bed of roses of course, not everyday is perfect but having a fantastic team and great department surrounding me on those not so good days keeps me going. I realise how lucky I am, which is why I'd push for anyone who doesn't feel like this to strive to get it.

There's not a day that I'm not in fits of laughter or walking around just grinning to myself (which to the public must look really disturbing I realise...). If the time comes that I'm not doing all of the above, I'll know it's time to go. If this is you, do something about it. No one is in control of your life or destiny apart from you. You're responsible for your own life and happiness - no one else is and no one else will be kicking themselves at the end of their life if you haven't gone after exactly what you want - apart from you.

So go do.
