|And before I follow up with 'Baby don't hurt me, baby don't hurt me, no more...' - it's not Haddaway I'm referring to but the ever impending V-Day.
I've wrote similar Feb 14th inspired pieces before and year after year what always baffles me are people who hate the big day. "It is known generically as love. Its contents however are not easily defined. Because love is like a volcano exploding with emotions, or a flaming sun full of energy."
Not once does that quote say it's red roses, a meal out at a fancy restaurant or has to even involve your S.O. People say 'I love you' all of the time, and it's because of that you probably don't realise or even hear it. Sure it may not always be in that three word formation, but it's there. 'Be careful', 'Get home safe', 'I miss you', 'It made me think of you' - common phrases all said with love.
|Love to me isn't about gifts. The only affection I want to ever be showered with are words and memories. I can buy my own presents, I can head out for dinner whenever I want or pick up a stunning bunch of lilies on my way home. I love love. I love being in love, I love my friends, my family, my life and every damn part about it. I love singing out of tune, getting lost, fry ups, Grand Theft Auto, being swung around a dancefloor, 2am conversations about life and being exhausted from the weekend because I've had too much fun. I think you catch my drift...
So this Valentine's Day, I'm filled with love. So my gift back to my loved ones is above in 4 minutes. Over 10 years of footage (some potentially unseen) of great times with my favourite people, my pillars of strength, my 'I can't get enough of you', my army. When I'm with you I'm a stronger, brighter, happier person. I feel like I can achieve anything. So thank you for being you, for your love and also Ellie Goulding for this song. (*Unfortunately this video only plays on Desktop, I've tried to get around this but to no avail...)
