5 Manchester Bars With A Difference

IMG_5022 Like any city, you’re swamped with choice when it comes to bars. And with new ones popping up every week, finding something different can be tough. So here’s 5 to check out next time you’re in the area…

Blink and you’ll miss this one. It’s a basement bar underneath the Hatters Hostel on Hilton Street that offers live music sessions, an intimate setting and wait for it, board games. Perfect for a cosy night out with your other half or your squad. It fills up pretty fast so head down early.

Once a month the Edge Street bar offers colouring club which does what it says on the tin. Pens, pencils and paper are on offer, as well as ideas for doodling. They also run quizzes which are blinking hard so if you’re after a little extra with your G&T - this is the place.

Fancy some ping pong? 20/22 is the place to do it. A whole room is dedicated to the sport and it’s a great mix of competitive souls and those just there for a laugh. Try and book in advance especially on the weekends and in between playing ball, there’s often live DJs and dancing.

Museum of Science and Industry

A new addition to NQ bar Cane and Grain, head upstairs to the Museum of Science and Industry for weekly live music sessions every Sunday night. It’s cosy and quaint and will make you forget you’ve got work in the morning.

Yep it’s one of those secret bars. All is not seems as you enter the Washhouse - if you manage to track it down, snap the outside, it looks fab on photos, before heading inside for some of the city’s most epic cocktails.
