Review | Artisan

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Artisan for those that don't know is a pretty big deal. And no, I'm not getting paid to say that. I'm the same now with blogging that I was all of those years ago when I began, I will always write honestly.

Located in The Avenue slap bang in Spinningfields, its low level lighting whilst not great for taking snaps, makes this place perfect for date nights and feeling warm and quite frankly at home. You'll have to take my word for it from these photos that it's even prettier in real life, or hopefully by the end of this review, I'll have tickled your tastebuds enough for you to go see for yourself.

Now Dry January is a mere memory, instead of my usual glass of wine or proscecco, I thought I'd switch things up and order a Pornstar Martini. Sometimes risks pay off and this was one of them. Whilst Artisan is known for its food above anything else, they did good with their Pornstar Martini. Get one if you go.

As far as food goes, I went for what I know and love: cheese and steak. So first up was a starter - we both had the same: baked camembert drizzled with bacon and with a side of thick cut crisps to dip. I love baked camembert - it's the fastest way to my heart (okay, sometimes I'm a cheap date) and this one is incredible. It's perfectly seasoned and the crisps are a cute switch from bread and means you've got room for the other courses. And I'll add it's served beautifully on a wooden slab - it's the little things right?

For mains, I went for the fillet steak which comes with fries and peppercorn sauce. I'm a big steak fan and I used to always have it med-well done but boy was I wrong, medium rare really is where it's at. Not only was it presented beautifully but it tasted just as good as it looked. And the peppercorn sauce was incredibly moreish.

By dessert, I'm not going to lie, I was stuffed but we all know you can make room for a pudding. So I had the strawberries and lemon curd mousse which was lovely and light. One too many strawberries for my child sized stomach but perhaps easy to finish if you're on a two course job. Note to self: I should have worn my elasticated jeans.

As you can probably guess, I'm an Artisan fan. With its low lighting and cosy vibe, you feel hidden away to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city but you're still slap bang in all of the action. Its design is welcoming, the staff can't do more to help you and make sure every minute of your meal is a joy. And the food gets a big thumbs up from me.

They're currently doing 40% off on a Monday and they have a photobooth too so you can really make a night of it. I'm a NQ home bird but Artisan is one of those places where I'm more than willing to break in my court heels walking across town to have a bloody good night.
