Mottram Hall with Spa Seekers

IMG_5290

Being a country girl, I love that I’m surrounded by acres of greenery, stately homes and sweeping drives. Chatsworth House is one I’ve grown up with and Lyme Park is practically just round the corner. Yet, I’d never been to Mottram Hall, so when an invite from Spa Seekers popped into my inbox, I was more than intrigued. I love a spa day - I mean who doesn’t? A pool, massage and lunch following is a pretty much a dream sequence of events. And a quick Google of the venue made me ooh and aah enough to book a trip back to the ‘shire.

Mottram Hall, as the name suggests, is based in Mottram - 10 minutes drive outside of Macclesfield and 30 minutes from Manchester city centre. The drive to the venue is a treat in itself - we had a bit of Bastille blasting out the radio but maybe I should’ve opted for more of a classical playlist to befit the grandeur of the building. The four star venue is a bit of everything, highlighted even more so during our tour of the hotel. It’s massively popular amongst golfers and sports fanatics with its vast golf course and sports clubhouse serving food, drink and broadcasting all of the popular games. It’s also a hotel with hundreds of rooms - great for it being a popular wedding venue, restaurant and spa and health destination.

We kicked off the day with some bucks fizz and a couple of sessions - the first with Beautiful In Colour who have been going since the 1980s, helping people pick the best shades of clothes that flatter their hair, skin and eye colourisation. I was defined as a Clear Dominant due to my dark hair, fair skin and light eyes and as much as I love black and white, I do dabble with colour in rich shades like navy, forest green, red and plum - which is apparently bang on. We then had a beauty session with Chloe Johnston. We then had our tour of the hotel which you can see in the above photos. I’ve been to quite a few grand venues where from the outside they look spot on but on the inside have started to look unloved to put it politely but Mottram Hall has kept up with the maintenance in ensuring it’s just as lovely outside as it is on the inside.

We also got to try the hotel’s afternoon tea in the Carrington Grill restaurant which overlook the grounds. On entry we walked past the grill’s ‘Wine Grotto’ - and I’ll hold my hands up - anywhere with a wine grotto is good in my books. It was a traditional serving of finger sandwiches, scones and small cakes and desserts - the scone in particular was delicious and the service amazing from all of the staff.

We finished up the day using the spa facilities which consist of treatment rooms, a gym, saunas, jacuzzis and a swimming pool. We avoided the gym and opted for the pool instead spending some time in the indoor and outdoor jacuzzis. They also have sunbeds outside come warmer days and the UK’s first Brechelbath and Stonebath - two thermal rooms which unlike traditional saunas overlook the grounds and gradually increases your body temperature.

To top it off the health club’s changing facilities are second to none. From the full length lockers activated by a wrist watch to the rainfall showers and GHD straighteners in the dressing area and robe and slippers - everything has been thought of to make a visit here luxury and I only hope to return soon to spend some more time at this wonderful hotel.
