Virgin Trains 'It's A Wonderful Line' And Why It's Important...

Anyone knows me knows I'm a big fan of Christmas. The food, the friends, the family, the music and the movies. According to a recent poll, the 1946 film 'It's A Wonderful Life' came out on top as the UK's favourite Christmas film. And if you're travelling with Virgin Trains this festive period - chances are you'll come across a part of it.

What I Thought Of Dunham Massey's Christmas Trail

I love all festive things, and for me, Christmas ain’t just about the big day itself. The lead up is just as important, because how better to get in the seasonal spirit than with celebrating as much as possible?!

So even before December crept around, the Christmas countdown began. We were invited down to to Dunham Massey to check out their famous Christmas Trail. I’d heard things about it, and having seen it featured in a fair few magazine features, I was more than a little bit excited to see it for myself. And it was a lot closer to Manchester than what I was expecting.

This trip was my second visit to Edinburgh, but this time around I wanted to really get to know the city. To visit neighbouring areas, get lost in the pretty streets and brunch in as many places as possible, because you know, priorities. After a jam-packed schedule and covering 25 miles, here it is: my guide to Edinburgh.

I Gave Dating Apps A Go, And This Is What Happened...

Untitled It all started in the middle of last summer. Two of my friends from home moved to the city and after a bottle or three of white wine, we decided to embark on what we coined 'the summer of fun.'

Review | Masons

Untitled I'll hold my hands up and say I 'do it for the 'gram' more than most. If there's a pretty place, I'll wanna go. So when Masons came on the Manchester scene and images of its inviting interior snuck on social, it was on my visit list. But did the food match the fancy venue?

Declutter 101 | How To Rid Your Life Of Things You Don't Need

48 Hours In... The Lakes

I think almost every single time I've visited the Lake District, it's been either grey or raining. Luckily when you're as pretty as the Lakes, you can get away with it. And it's where we recently spent a couple of days.

We stayed just outside of Windermere at a hotel and spa, which had a jacuzzi overlooking Lake Windermere which just says it all really. And yes, despite the transitional weather, we still popped out to give it a go. I have no photos of this, because I don't think I'm Insta ready as it is, let alone with my hair scraped back and no make-up on in a bath of bubbles. What I do have is a quick guide of where to eat, what to see and do if you're nipping to the Lakes on  a quick trip.

Located in the heart of Windermere, the cafe and coffee house is quaint and the perfect spot for people watching. It also happens to do the most incredible eggs Benedict with ham hock, and is well worth a visit. They don't do reservations so bear that in mind and head down early.

With Lake Windermere being as vast as it is, there's plenty of spots to hop on and off a boat tour. Ambleside is a pretty town with independent shops and several boat trips to choose from. They all depart frequently and vary in journey and length of time. We went for the Wray Castle trip and with it, we got a classic wooden boat, which yes you have to sit outside and admire the view, even in the rain. We hopped off at Wray Castle to take a look around before hopping back on 30 minutes later. Our trip was around two hours in total, enough time to snap every inch for Insta.

Just before you hit Windermere, you have Gummer's How, a 30 minute walk leading to stunning views over the lake. If you Google it, it's described as a short, sharp walk. It's an easy walk but does involve a few climbing bits, and if you're a wimp like me, a few breaks on the way up. The view is worth the hike however, as you can see for miles on a clear day.

The term 'treat yo'self' wasn't invented for nothing. Celebrate your uphill victory with a pint at the nearby pub, The Masons Arms. It's a 2 mile drive from Gummer's How car park, and they offer everything from steaks and sandwiches to mains and light bites.

Probably my favourite part of the Lakes, Bowness is filled with cute cobbled streets, pretty shop windows and inviting eateries. You can walk in between here and Windermere in about 25 minutes, so get a few extra hours on the parking meter to explore both.

26 Things I Loved About Being 26

As told by my Instagram. Many other things happened, but they mustn't have made it onto the 'gram. As you can probably guess, I'm waving goodbye to my 26th year. I still feel in my early twenties, and I hope I look it too. But at the risk of rambling on because we all I know I love to write, here's 26 of my favourite things that happened to me aged 26, if you can be bothered to get to the end...

Review | Grill On The Alley

In a bid to spend more time at home, going out for food has recently become much of a treat than it used to be. For me, there's three types of going out for food.

One, if I'm too lazy too cook.  Two, if it's a spur of the moment thing, and three, if it's planned. Our recent trip to Grill On The Alley was the third.

Oops I Did It Again

Oh the irony of my last post being titled "Where I've been..." and immediately disappearing off the face of the earth for another month.

Well, in short, sorry. It's been a little hectic. Aside from the day to day, in the past four weeks, my sister got married and we've moved houses and neighbourhoods, I've been to Ibiza, London for the weekend and had a lot on at work.

Where I've Been...

Untitled I think this title suggests way more more than you're about to read.

I guess you could call it click bait, but regardless, here you are. I've been a little quiet on here, which coming from someone who used to write three times a week and even would go as far as scheduling a month in advance, is weird. Why? I can't really pin it on one thing.

The Art Of Leaving

Untitled The art of leaving is not always easy. If you Google the definition you get: "to go away from someone or something for a short period of time or permanently." It's soaked with negative connotation, from leaving a party early, leaving your your job or walking out on your partner. It's rare it's ever paired with something sunny. Yet it's a skill that sometimes will save your sanity.
