Five Places To Get Cheap Food In Manchester

Having lived here for a fair few years now, when it comes to eating out, I know my deals and my go-to places for what.

So if you want some good scran for less dollar, here are the insider tips to getting just that.

For Bottomless Brunch
Refinery, Spinningfields

Despite being addicted to brunch, I’ve only done a couple of these so far. But from what I’ve tested, Refinery at Spinningfields is one to check out. The décor is super homely yet luxe and the food is fab. So how does it work? You pay for your brunch separately – from memory it needs to be £7.50 minimum, and then it’s £15 for unlimited mimosas or bloody Marys for two whole hours. I can drink prosecco like most, but I actually preferred a softer approach to bottomless and if you’re worried you won’t get your money’s worth – the staff are on hand to fill up that glass the minute you’re finished. I love the Full English here – the poached eggs were perfect.

For A Fab Lunch Deal
Albert’s Shed, Castlefield
Most eateries in the city offer some sort of lunch deal so if you’re dining pre 5pm, it’s worth doing your research to save some dollar. My go-to is Albert’s Shed in Castlefield which I know I bang on about a lot – but there’s a reason for it. Come summer this place truly comes alive with live music and trust me when I say getting a seat in the sun trap terrace is like being on holiday trying to bag a sun lounger. But back to the food… All week they offer a two course offer. During the week it’s £12.50 for two courses before 6pm and Saturday it’s usually a few pounds more and you need to order before 4pm. I thoroughly recommend either the ‘Steak Frites’ or ‘Albert’s Fish and Chips’ and the ‘Chocolate Volcano’ to finish.

Mark Monday In Your Diary
Artisan, Spinningfields
If you seriously wanna save on cash, eat out on a Monday. Lots of Manchester restaurants do half price on this day. Ply do half price pizza, Rosylee do 50% off, as do Tariff and Dale but my go-to and all-round fave is Artisan in Spinningfields. The menu is varied enough to give everyone a choice of what they want, the lights are dim, the mood is laidback and they do a killer pornstar martini. As for food, their steak is great, as is their chicken and a must to start? The camembert – it’s one of my faves in the city. On Mondays their photobooth is also free so get snapping – the best pic can win a bottle of prosecco.

Steak Out
El Capo, NQ
I’m yet to try this one but the offer sounds AMAZING. On a Monday El Capo offer two steaks, two sides and a bottle of wine for £25. That’s £12.50 each. For all that food. One on my try list for sure.

Thank F It’s Friday
Tariff and Dale, NQ
If all you can eat is your vibe and you love a pizza, head to Tariff and Dale on a Friday lunch as that’s exactly what they offer. For £9 you get as much pizza as you want from 12-2pm with a soft drink and a couple of quid more for a beer, wine or cocktail.
