A Day Out In Manchester On A Budget

Untitled

Despite what some people may think, a day out in the city doesn’t have to break the bank. So if you’re trying to ball on a budget when visiting Manchester, here’s how to explore what it has to offer for £50. And if you're not like me who's a local playing tourist for the day, there's loads of hotels in Manchester to get picking from.

BRUNCH AT

Treat yourself to a lie in. Manchester is the city that caters for those that like to sleep first, and brunch later, with some restaurants serving brekkie all day. Stop by The Refinery in Spinningfields for a tasty Full English in luxe surroundings. For £13 you can get a great start to the day with this dish and an orange juice.

For when you’re not on a budget

Book in for their famous bottomless brunch. £30 for two hours of free flowing mimosas and a brunch dish of your choice

WANDER LOCAL GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS

Manchester has plenty of culture for you to soak up. Check out the Manchester Gallery on Mosley Street, The Science and Industry Museum in Deansgate/Castlefield and Manchester Museum which is nestled in amongst the city's university buildings.

WINDOW SHOP AT OKLAHOMA

Nestled amongst the city's Northern Quarter sits Oklahoma - a home and gifts shop with every idea you can think of. From the classic to the quirky gifts, it's colourful, cute but dangerous. Why? Because you'll find it extremely hard to leave without purchasing something. It's my favourite place to browse on my lunch breaks.

HAVE A WINE SKY HIGH

Head to 20 Stories to sip on a wine at Manchester's highest outside bar. With views across the skyline, and igloo pop ups without the hefty drinks price tag, it's the perfect place to take the girls, or to impress your mum. Some days they have acoustic sets on inside which makes a trip extra special and the staff are super friendly too.

GRAB SOME FOOD AT GASWORKS

My favourite hot dog in town, food at Gasworks is cheap and super speedy. There’s loads of tables so always somewhere to sit, and come summer, this places is a real sun trap outside. For £10 you can get a meal and a soft drink.

GET YOUR GOLF ON AT JUNKYARD GOLF

In need of an activity? Pop by Junkyard Golf after some food at Gasworks for nine holes of mini golf. The theming and puns are top notch, you can get cute cocktails and the whole place is full of fun. On weekends, it’s worth booking as it gets really popular but walk ins are available subject to wait and group size.

HEAD TO YES

One of Manchester’s newest additions to the night scene, YES, just off Oxford road is four floors of fun. They hold gigs here, you can grab pizza by the slice here and each floor has a different vibe. A fully pink room, neon signs and a rooftop terrace are just some of the highlights. You can grab a double gin here for £5.75 so with what you’ve got left, treat yourself to two doubles and dance away to the DJ. On days you have more pennies in your pocket, they do bottles of prosecco for less than £20.
