What I Thought Of Dunham Massey's Christmas Trail

Untitled

I love all festive things, and for me, Christmas ain’t just about the big day itself. The lead up is just as important, because how better to get in the seasonal spirit than with celebrating as much as possible?!

So even before December crept around, the Christmas countdown began. We were invited down to to Dunham Massey to check out their famous Christmas Trail. I’d heard things about it, and having seen it featured in a fair few magazine features, I was more than a little bit excited to see it for myself. And it was a lot closer to Manchester than what I was expecting.

It took us about ten minute’s drive to get there from Altrincham before we started the trail. At the start there’s opportunity to grab a bite or a drink at the cute alpine-esque wooden stalls. Think mulled wine, hot chocolates and snacks. And for anyone with kids, there’s a small funfair to keep them entertained, and Santa makes an appearance at the start.

After that the trail starts. We were quite lucky being at the front of the crowd around the first few parts, so we got some pretty amazing shots. And yes I was like an excited child capturing and experiencing it all. There’s accompanying music for each installation, really adding to the festive experience; each one completely unique and captivating.

There’s a mix of ones you walk past, walk through and walk under, with tunnels where you’re literally surrounded by dancing lights putting on a show. And an opportunity to buy some marshmallows to toast in ‘The Marshmallowist’ garden before you leave. There were too many I liked to pick a fave and it was the perfect festive kick-off to Christmas! A big thank you to Emma and Dunham Massey for the invite.
