My Thoughts On The Lowry Hotel Spa...

I’ve tried quite a lot of massages in Manchester. I’m not even sure what ‘got me into’ having them but for me, now I’m hooked. And giving the amount of knots I seem to accumulate, my body is in need of them. Until Clarins shut down in Selfridges, which I can’t for the life of me understand, that used to be my religious go-to to de-stress and come out feeling lighter. For me, nowhere else in Manchester compared.

Thanks to Twitter I noticed a mid-week offer The Lowry Hotel Spa were offering. And whilst this whole post will sound like an ad, it wasn’t! They were doing 40% off on a Tuesday and Wednesday in June. As it was coming up to my birthday and my last massage was months ago, I thought, why the hell not? I’d happily spend that money on a new dress, so why not get myself a pre-birthday treat?

I’d never really thought of going to The Lowry - I guess for one because of the location, as I live on the opposite end of town, and because I loved Clarins. But with an offer like that, I couldn’t resist, so booked in for an hour massage. I went after work and was all knotted up. The spa is tucked away on a peaceful floor of the hotel and the minute I stepped foot inside it screamed luxury. Spotless white surfaces and plenty of amenities are met with super friendly staff.

You’re given a robe, towel and slippers which made me feel as snug as a bug and definitely more luxe than my usual kind of massage. The spa itself is pretty big with countless treatment rooms. Before my treatment started there was a foot spa to enjoy and a hand massage given whilst talking through what I’d booked in for. It was originally a 60 minute massage but because of all my tension being up top, it was customised to be a 30 minute massage and a 30 minute facial, which for me made the whole experience even better, because I’d been struggling to pick a facial or massage when I booked.

My therapist was super professional and friendly, and did an amazing job of getting out my knots and making me feel relaxed. And my facial was highly hydrating and left my skin glowing, which given my skin doesn’t get much TLC, felt great.

I had the option afterwards to use the gym, sauna, wellness area or relaxation room along with magazines, fresh fruit and juices. I wasn’t expecting all of this to be available during my visit so it was a good surprise, so I had some downtime on comfy beds in the relaxation room before heading home.

As you can probably tell, I couldn’t rate this place enough. It’s not the cheapest place in town for a massage but having had one, I think it’s worth every penny. I came away feeling totally zen and looked after. The whole experience was luxurious and where my outgoings allow, I'll try and visit every so often, or hopefully when they have another offer again!
