Mum's First Blogger Event WIth Moonpig

Untitled

[AD] I was kindly invited to this event by Moonpig - this post is not paid for

Whenever I ask my mum what she wants for her birthday, mother’s day or Christmas, she usually says to spend time together. I’ll add a disclaimer here that I’ve never just gifted her my company, as that would be weird. But given that my sister’s in her thirties and I’m in my late twenties (sob), getting together is an occasion in itself with living in different places, work and general life happening.

So when I got an invite to a Mother’s Day #Heartfeltwithmoonpig event in my inbox from Moonpig , I was really excited to invite her to a Friday night out in Manchester. The event was held at Whitworth Locke, part of the Locke hotel chain, which as a side note are stunning venues. The one in Manchester has a beautiful atrium where the bar is, leading to the venue space where we were greeted with prosecco.

The night, as you’d imagine was centered around Mother’s Day and celebrating the mother figure in your life. Most people know the brand from their catchy adverts, or will at least know they’re the go-to for personalised cards, with 1 in 3 people having used Moonpig before. And 17 million cards were sold last year alone, which is a pretty big deal. They're also more than just cards, selling everything from flowers to jewellery and chocolate to mugs, although my mum's on a mug ban as she's already got a cupboard bursting at home. If you fancy a nosy at their range, you can do so here.

My mum is big on receiving cards, and it’s something that I think has rubbed off on me as I’ll spend almost an hour picking out a couple of cards. On the night we had a green screen to recreate whatever card we wanted to, which arrived the first working day after the weekend event, which really surprised me, and is something if you don’t get the opportunity to see someone face to face on a special occasion is great service.

We also were treated to a cocktail making masterclass which was a lot of fun going head to head creating the best cocktails. Mixing a pornstar martini was a personal favourite, which I’ll be recreating once I move into my new place...

The highlight of the night for us was the flower arranging session where I was pretty impressed with what I created, and thanks to the flower expert Roxanne, the process was pretty easy. The flowers lasted an impressive 2-3 weeks before I had to admit defeat and take them out of my lounge (it was a sad day). It was great to see the quality of the flowers and just how long they lasted. And for people who don’t have the opportunity to gift in person or leave gifting to the last minute, it’s perfect for bagging both a card and flowers in one without even leaving the house.

I’ve been blogging for a fair few years now, but this was probably one of my favourite events to date, mainly because I got to bring my mum and make the night about her, and just having fun. So thank you to Moonpig for the invite but mainly for spoiling my mum!
